Request to join matches

When a player’s level falls outside the range set for a match, they no longer hit a dead end. They can now send a request to join directly to the lead booker, who decides whether to let them in — keeping matches open and flexible while still giving organisers full control over who plays.

How it works

• When a player’s level isn’t within the required level span of a match, they can request to join instead of being blocked
• The request is sent straight to the lead booker of the match
• The lead booker sees the player’s profile — level, reliability, and match history — before deciding
• They can choose to accept or decline the request
• Accepting adds the requester to the match

Why this feature matters

Level restrictions keep matches balanced, but they can also leave courts half-full when a willing player is just outside the range. Request to join strikes the balance — players get a way in, and lead bookers stay in control of who joins. The result is fewer empty spots, more matches going ahead, and a friendlier experience for players who are keen to play.
